For this second exhibition including the fireworks series Muller Van Severen create more pieces using the traditional technique of enamel in a contemporary way. The exhibition at Valerie Traan Gallery in Antwerp sees the addition of four enamel tables and two room dividers in rust. The series started with five sculptural room dividers, first shown in 2017 at Massimo De Carlo Gallery during Milan Design Week. During the process of enamelling, colored powder glass is burnt onto steel at 800 degrees Celsius, resulting in a beautiful, deep layer of color. Because of the highly refined finishing, Muller Van Severen applies the technique on tables now too. The surfaces show a deep and rich color and are resistant to scratching. Notice the different positioning of the legs of the tabes. While the legs of ‘table emaill #1’ and ‘table emaille #4’ are welded onto the frame, the legs of #2 and #3 are put behind the frame. By combining enamel with brass, the tables obtain a certain spirit of chique, without being showy.

It is all handwork done in Belgium.
