In 2016 Belgian architecture company OFFICE kgdvs, led by Kersten Geers and David Van Severen, are commissioned to construct a holiday home in Aragon, two hundred kilometers south of Barcelona. Inspired by the incredible surroundings the architects decide to build a house that practically dissolves into nature. Solo House is a dwelling shaped like a circle. Nature surrounds the house and is encompassed by it at the same time. The round building delineates a round garden inside with a swimming pond for which Muller Van Severen designed a number of reclining objects. They wanted to accentuate the openness of the place. That is why the daybeds aren’t manufactured in heavy materials like concrete or wood, but in metal netting. You can see through the object, but still grasp the architecture. Transparency makes the objects present and absent at the same time.
