marble cutting boards

Marble cutting boards is a second version of the cutting boards from 2011. This object is part of the first Muller Van Severen exhibition at gallery Valerie Traan in Antwerp. Muller Van Severen wanted to create a wall sculpture consisting of just one material. At first it becomes a set of polyethylene cutting boards, later on a set in different kinds of marble. The organic forms create a ‘bas relief’. Every plate has been meticulously shaped in order to create depth of field. When one board is taken away, the sculpture changes its appearance.
